Advocacy Committee

Advocacy is about learning all there is to know about an important issue and then using that knowledge to make a difference.  The Lexington Fairness Advocacy Committee is comprised of volunteers from Central Kentucky who are committed to raising awareness of and educating public officials about LGBTQ issues.  If you are the type of person who cares about the LGBTQ community, enjoys writing letters to the editor, or is willing to go to Frankfort to meet with legislators in the General Assembly, then we need you.  Please join our Advocacy Committee today.

Education and Outreach Committee

Visibility is an important part of building a positive image of the LGBTQ community in the general public.  Our Outreach and Education Committee coordinates our presence at Central Kentucky community events such as parades and festivals.  We frequently partner with other fair minded social justice organizations to staff information tables, hand out event flyers and pamphlets and just be out for fairness.  The ideal Outreach and Education committee participant is an outgoing and friendly person who loves to spread the word for fairness.

Fundraising Committee

Lexington Fairness is run by volunteers, but materials and services for our operations are paid for entirely by money from fundraisers and donations.  This Fundraising Committee leads the Board’s participation in the development of the long-term financial stability of Lexington Fairness through fundraising and requires a high level of commitment from volunteers. This includes, but is not limited to, individual donor management, sponsorships, and fundraiser events. Membership is composed of board and non-board members. Each volunteer should evaluate whether they have the personal commitment and time to successfully support Lexington Fairness. We're looking for people with solid fundraising experience, strong interpersonal skills, a familiarity with the local business community, and probably most importantly, a high energy and drive.

Website & Media Committee

The Website & Media Committee was created to coordinate communications and designs for our organization's Internet presence, including the official website and Facebook and MySpace profiles. Website and Media members work hard to increase Lexington Fairness' online membership and to keep those members up to date with current activities involving the LGBT community.
